Not everyone can talk. That should not cost you their answer.
Typed answers are a way in, not a lesser version of the study. The same link, the same questions, the same register, and the same gate deciding what counts. Each campaign chooses which ways in it allows: speak live, leave a voice message, or type — and a study that allows voice always allows writing, never the other way round.
Who this is for
The people a voice-only study quietly loses
Voice gets the richer answer, and we say so plainly — on this page and on the form itself. But a respondent standing on a production line, sitting beside a sleeping patient, or on a line too weak to hold a call is not choosing between speaking and typing. They are choosing between typing and not answering at all.
A place where talking is not possible
A shop floor with machinery running, a ward at night, a shared desk. The phone is in their hand either way; only one of the two ways in works there.
A moment that is not private
People raise things about a manager, a doctor or a colleague that they will not say out loud in a room with other people in it. Typing is sometimes the only honest channel available.
A connection that will not hold a conversation
A spoken interview needs a steady two-way stream for several minutes. Text needs far less, and recovers when the signal drops.
What stays the same
The same study, not a stripped-down one
Typed answers are a full way in, not a downgrade. Nothing about the study changes when a respondent chooses to write instead of speak.
Same invitation, same questions, same order
The respondent opens the link they were sent and answers the questions the study is built from. There is no second form to maintain and no second version to keep in step.
Same consent, same disclosure promise
Consent first, a receipt kept, and whichever promise the campaign fixed — Anonymous, De-identified or Named — applies identically to a typed answer and a spoken one.
Same dataset, with the mix declared
Written and spoken answers land in one set of results, and the methodology block states the channel mix — so nobody has to guess how the sample was assembled.
What changes
Judged on what writing can actually be judged on
A typed answer is never scored on how clearly it was spoken — there is no speech to score. The quality gate applies the rules that fit writing instead: enough words to be an answer, and enough time on the task to be a person thinking rather than a paste.
Consent, coverage of the required questions and repeat detection are unchanged. They never depended on how a person answers, so nothing about them moves.
How you set it
One switch on the campaign, fixed before anyone is invited
Which ways in a pulse survey allows is a campaign switch, sitting beside who may answer, what the disclosure promise is, and how often the survey repeats. It is settled before the first invitation goes out and does not move once answers exist, so a report always describes one instrument.
Voice includes writing; writing never implies voice. A study set up for typed answers stays typed, and is never upgraded into a recorded conversation behind the respondent’s back.
Consent comes first whichever way the answer arrives, and a receipt is kept. Personal details are encrypted and never appear in a report. Findings are directional only unless quota controls were applied and met. DPDP-aligned, and held in India.
Tell us where your respondents will be when they answer, and we will set the ways in to match before the first invitation goes out.
